Considered Work,
Plainly Explained
Seri Chambers is a Kuala Lumpur contract advisory practice. We work with businesses across Malaysia to review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with care and without unnecessary complexity.
Back to HomeOur Story
Seri Chambers was founded in Kuala Lumpur by practitioners who had observed a recurring problem: businesses receiving commercial agreements from counterparties were often left to navigate them without proper guidance. The contracts were signed because the commercial relationship seemed sound, not because the terms had been properly read.
We set out to fill that gap — not as a general litigation firm or a full-service commercial practice, but as a focused advisory that sits at the point where a document first arrives and needs a careful second read. Over time, that work expanded to include bespoke drafting for clients who needed agreements built from their own commercial intent rather than from a borrowed template.
Our office in Bangsar reflects how we work: accessible, unhurried, and organised. We are not the largest contract practice in the city. We have no ambition to be. What we offer is consistent, careful attention to the documents that define commercial relationships — and plain advice about what they actually mean.
To make commercial agreements clearer
Every business deserves to understand what it is signing. We exist to bridge the distance between legal language and commercial decision-making, without dramatising risk or diluting the advice.
Clarity. Candour. Composure.
We write plainly. We say what we think. We stay steady when the commercial situation is not. These are not aspirations — they are the working method.

Malaysian Bar Council
All fee earners at Seri Chambers are members of the Malaysian Bar, subject to the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the professional conduct rules of the Bar Council.
Solicitor-Client Privilege
All communications with our practice are protected under legal professional privilege. We do not disclose client instructions, documents, or advice to third parties without authority.
PDPA Compliance
Client data is handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). We collect only what is needed for the engagement and retain nothing beyond its conclusion without consent.
Written Advice Standard
All substantive advice is provided in writing. Verbal guidance is confirmed in writing before being acted upon. This protects both sides and keeps the record clear.
Conflict of Interest Screening
We conduct a conflict check before accepting any instruction. Where a conflict exists, we inform the prospective client promptly and do not proceed.
Continuing Legal Education
Our team participates in Bar Council CPD programmes and monitors developments in Malaysian contract law, including new case law from the courts and legislative updates.
Working With Commercial Clients in Malaysia
Commercial agreements in Malaysia operate within a distinct legal framework. The Contracts Act 1950 governs formation and enforceability, but the practical impact of individual clauses depends heavily on sector, counterparty relationship, and the commercial context in which the agreement sits. Generic templates from other jurisdictions do not translate without care.
At Seri Chambers, our work centres on the Klang Valley business community — distribution companies, technology businesses, professional services firms, and manufacturing clients who enter supply or service arrangements as a routine part of operations. Many of these clients come to us when a counterparty proposes terms that feel unfamiliar or unbalanced.
We approach each instruction with the understanding that the commercial relationship matters more than any particular clause. Our advice identifies where a contract creates meaningful exposure, where standard market terms are reasonable, and where a request for amendment is likely to be accepted or resisted by the other side.
The settlement side of our work addresses a different need — when a commercial relationship has reached a point of disagreement and both parties want to resolve the matter without protracted proceedings. Seri Chambers prepares documents that allow both sides to conclude the matter with clarity and move forward.
